Location
The Amalfi Coast's most photogenic village — pastel-coloured houses cascading down a cliff to a pebble beach, with boutiques and seafood restaurants.
Perched 350m above the sea, Ravello's Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone gardens offer the most dramatic views on the entire coast.
The only way to truly appreciate the coast's scale — private boat hire or group tours reveal sea caves, hidden beaches, and the Grotta dello Smeraldo.
The coast's namesake town — a medieval cathedral, Arab-Norman cloister, and the best limoncello in Italy made from local sfusato lemons.
A 7.8km clifftop hiking trail from Bomerano to Nocelle with jaw-dropping views over the coast — one of Italy's most spectacular walks.
The coast's terraced lemon groves produce the world's finest sfusato lemons — visit a working grove and taste the difference in the limoncello.
The coast's quieter villages — Praiano has a tiny fishing harbour and Furore has a dramatic fjord beach accessible only by steep steps.
The glamorous island of Capri is just 40 minutes by hydrofoil — the Blue Grotto, Villa Jovis, and the Faraglioni rocks are unmissable.

Visit in May, June, or September — July and August are brutally hot, extremely crowded, and accommodation prices double.
The coastal road (SS163) is notoriously congested in summer — take the SITA bus or hire a private boat to travel between villages.
Book accommodation in Positano or Ravello at least 3–4 months ahead for summer — the best rooms sell out extremely fast.
The Path of the Gods hike is best done early morning (start by 7am) before the heat and crowds — bring plenty of water.
Hire a private boat for a day — it's the best way to reach hidden beaches, sea caves, and the Grotta dello Smeraldo.
Limoncello made from local sfusato lemons is a world apart from supermarket versions — buy directly from a producer in Amalfi town.
