Location
World-famous golden sunsets over the caldera from the clifftop village of Oia — arrive early for the best spot.
The dramatic volcanic caldera stretches 12km wide, offering jaw-dropping panoramas from every cliffside terrace.
Perissa and Kamari beaches feature striking volcanic black sand unique to the island's geological history.
A remarkably preserved Bronze Age city buried by the same volcanic eruption that shaped the island 3,600 years ago.
Santorini's volcanic soil produces the distinctive Assyrtiko grape — crisp, mineral white wines unlike anywhere else.
The island's vibrant capital perches on the caldera rim, packed with boutiques, restaurants, and cable car rides.
Sail around the volcanic islands, swim in hot springs, and snorkel in crystal-clear Aegean waters.
Cave hotels and infinity-pool villas carved into the caldera cliffs offer some of the world's most iconic accommodation.

Book accommodation in Oia or Imerovigli at least 3–4 months ahead for summer — the best caldera-view rooms sell out extremely fast.
For the famous Oia sunset, arrive at least 90 minutes early to claim a good spot — the main viewpoint gets packed with hundreds of visitors.
Rent an ATV or scooter to explore the island independently — it's the most flexible and fun way to reach beaches and villages.
Visit Akrotiri first thing in the morning before tour groups arrive — the site is fascinating and far less crowded at opening time.
Try local Assyrtiko wine at a caldera-view winery — Santo Wines and Venetsanos are both spectacular and worth the splurge.
The cable car from Fira to the old port runs frequently but queues can be long — the 588-step donkey path is a great alternative.
