Location
The world's greatest amphitheatre — 2,000 years old and still awe-inspiring. Book arena floor access for the most immersive experience.
St. Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, and the Vatican Museums — an entire sovereign state packed with humanity's greatest art.
The world's most famous fountain — toss a coin to guarantee your return to Rome, then visit at dawn to beat the crowds.
Walk the ancient heart of the Roman Empire — the same stones trodden by Julius Caesar, senators, and gladiators.
Rome's most atmospheric neighbourhood — ivy-covered medieval lanes, trattorias, and the city's best nightlife scene.
The world's finest Baroque sculpture collection — Bernini's Apollo and Daphne alone is worth the trip. Timed entry required.
Cacio e pepe, carbonara, supplì, gelato — Rome's food scene is deeply local and fiercely proud. Avoid tourist menus near major sights.
The best-preserved ancient Roman building — its unreinforced concrete dome has stood for 1,900 years and still inspires architects today.

Book Colosseum and Vatican Museums tickets online well in advance — both sell out weeks ahead in peak season and queues without tickets are brutal.
The Borghese Gallery requires advance booking and limits visitors to 2-hour timed slots — book as early as possible.
Visit the Trevi Fountain at 6–7am to have it almost to yourself — it's magical without the crowds and perfect for photos.
Dress modestly for Vatican City and churches — shoulders and knees must be covered or you'll be turned away at the door.
Eat where locals eat: look for restaurants without photos on the menu, away from major tourist sights, and with Italian-speaking customers.
The Roma Pass gives unlimited public transport and free/discounted entry to museums — great value for a 3-day visit.
