Location
The world's greatest collection of Italian Renaissance art — Botticelli's Birth of Venus, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael all under one roof.
Brunelleschi's revolutionary dome dominates the skyline — climb the 463 steps for the most spectacular view in Tuscany.
Florence's iconic medieval bridge lined with goldsmiths' shops — the only bridge in Florence not destroyed by the retreating German army in 1944.
The world's most famous sculpture stands 5.17 metres tall in the Galleria dell'Accademia — book tickets well in advance.
Florence's artisan quarter across the Arno — leather workshops, wine bars, and the Pitti Palace away from the main tourist crowds.
Bistecca Fiorentina, ribollita, pappardelle with wild boar, and the world's best gelato — Florence's food scene is deeply rooted in Tuscan tradition.
A hilltop terrace with the most iconic panoramic view of Florence — best at sunset when the Duomo glows amber.
The rolling Tuscan hills of Chianti are just 30 minutes from Florence — vineyard tours, olive oil tastings, and medieval hilltop towns.

Book Uffizi Gallery and Accademia (David) tickets online at least 2 weeks ahead — queues without pre-booked tickets can be 2–3 hours long.
Climb the Duomo dome early morning (8am opening) — the 463-step climb is worth it for the views, and it's cooler before midday.
Florence is extremely compact — almost everything in the historic centre is within 20 minutes on foot.
Eat gelato from a gelateria that stores it in covered metal containers (not piled high in colourful mounds) — that's the real artisan stuff.
The Oltrarno neighbourhood across the Arno has better restaurants and fewer tourists than the area around the Duomo.
Visit Piazzale Michelangelo at sunset — it's free, the views are extraordinary, and it's one of the most romantic spots in Italy.
