Curated European Journeys
Antiquity and the bluest coast in Europe, in one easy itinerary.
A hand-built starting point. AI customizes it from real bookable experiences.
✨ Customize this trip →Rome teaches you what permanence looks like. The Amalfi Coast teaches you why people built things that last. Three nights in the eternal city, four on the coast — the cleanest way to do Italy if Florence isn't pulling at you.
Who this is forCouples and small groups who want one city and one coast — depth over breadth. Honeymooners. Returning Italy travelers who already did Florence on a previous trip.
Mid-May to mid-June, then mid-September to early October. The Amalfi Coast season runs Easter to mid-October — outside that, hotels close. Avoid August at all costs.
Mid-range comfortable: $2,400–$3,200 per person for 8 days. The Amalfi Coast skews expensive — a sea-view hotel in Positano in season is $400–$700 per night. You can halve that by staying in Praiano or Amalfi town.
Three nights in Rome to do it without rushing, then four on the coast to actually unwind. One train ride between them.
Land at FCO, train to Termini. Walk dinner in Monti or Centro Storico. Early bed.
Insider tip: Skip the menu-on-the-street places. Walk until you find a place locals are eating.
Stay: Monti or near Piazza Navona
Morning at the Colosseum and Roman Forum (book the 9am combo with Palatine Hill). Lunch in Monti, afternoon nap, dinner in Trastevere.
Insider tip: For dinner in Trastevere: Da Enzo al 29, but book days ahead or walk in at 7pm exactly.
Stay: Monti / Piazza Navona
Vatican Museums first thing. Afternoon: Trastevere food walk or Aventine Hill's orange garden and keyhole. Dinner in Testaccio for the Roman classics.
Aventine Keyhole
A keyhole on the Aventine Hill perfectly frames St. Peter's Dome through a garden. Free, weird, magical.
Insider tip: Testaccio is where Romans actually eat. Flavio al Velavevodetto for cacio e pepe done right.
Stay: Monti / Piazza Navona
Morning Frecciarossa to Naples (1h 10m). Private driver to Positano or Praiano. Afternoon swim, evening Aperol on a terrace.
Insider tip: Tip the driver €30–€50 for a 4-hour transfer with luggage. Standard.
Stay: Praiano (best mid-range value) or Positano (if splurging)
Half or full-day private boat — Capri, the grottos, lunch in Nerano. The day that justifies the whole coast.
Insider tip: Lo Scoglio at Nerano for the spaghetti alla Nerano lunch. Book the table when you book the boat.
Stay: Praiano / Positano
Option A: Path of the Gods hike (Bomerano to Nocelle, 3 hours, the best coast walk in Italy). Option B: Visit Ravello for the gardens at Villa Cimbrone. Dinner back at base.
Villa Cimbrone gardens, Ravello
The Terrace of Infinity is the postcard everyone gets wrong. Go in late afternoon, golden hour, mostly empty.
Insider tip: Path of the Gods requires real shoes. Trail runners minimum. Sneakers won't cut it on the loose rock.
Stay: Praiano / Positano
Slow morning, beach club afternoon (Da Adolfo if you can get there, Arienzo if you want stairs and views). Last dinner at the most special restaurant you can book.
Insider tip: Da Adolfo: book a table the morning you want to go. They run a free boat from Positano's main beach. The grilled mozzarella on lemon leaves is the whole point.
Stay: Praiano / Positano
Private transfer to Naples airport. Or extend by a day and add Pompeii on the way.
Insider tip: NAP is small. 90 minutes is enough for international.
